Kim is an educator that is fully committed to working in and with the Deaf community. He has served as an instructor of ASL for over 20 years in the U.S., abroad, and has adapted successfully to training in the virtual space. Training and teaching have been an outlet for his creative and innovative energies.
Kim is a true linguaphile. As a deaf child, from his own countless trips to the local speech pathologist, he got hooked on phonetics which enticed him into the world of sign language and linguistics. One of his many hobbies is learning and dabbling in various sign languages. Other than being fluent in ASL and Maritime Sign Language, he has learned a variety of signs in multiple languages (Austrian, Australian, British, International Sign, Langue des Signes Quebecoise, New Zealand, Polish, Hungarian and Turkish) and currently learning to be conversant in Romanian Sign Language.
Being a linguaphile has increased his cultural sensitivity. He abides by the rule that no single training or instructional approach is the right one for every individual. Because of his education in a range of instructional and training approaches, he can tailor and design his own approach to meet his clients’ diverse learning and training needs. He describes his training mission as ‘living for the personal success of others’.
His students describe him and his classes as being engaging, an expert in both ASL and English along with the linguistics that tie them together, a clear communication style that make the explanations of the material illuminating. Those in his classes have particularly appreciated his pep talks, encouragement and how “the perspective that he gives to us as students, who constantly feel like we are struggling, made a big difference."
He and his wife enjoy volunteer work and helping Deaf education in Eastern Europe and Asia such as Hungary, Romania, and Turkey.
Kim has achieved a BA in Political Science (International Relations), he has graduated with a MA in Deaf Education with ASL endorsement enrolled at Gallaudet University for ASL / Deaf Studies and Linguistics and has a Quality Matters Certification. He also consults colleges on their ASL curriculum as a subject matter expert and onsite ASL expert.
If asked, Kim would say his greatest achievements are his own learners who are able to teach others what they have absorbed in his training or classroom. This stems from the foundation he received from his father who himself was an adult educator of 40 years. In his footsteps, he never allows a single teachable moment to slip by and lives by the mantra that the students are the teachers in the classroom.

Ryan served in the United States Navy for four years, with deployments to Western Africa, the Persian Gulf, and the Caribbean. The military and law enforcement service has great meaning for him as it has given him a full sense of service and camaraderie. He is currently enrolled in the Criminal Justice Master’s Program at Curry College.
Having an exceptionally even-keeled nature, Ryan is the definition of consistency and stability and displays an excess of patience when speaking or working with someone. He is intent on always taking whatever time is necessary to ensure someone understands what he is trying to convey. His mantra is ‘have big ears and a small mouth’, to always listen intentionally and speak only when needed. Due to his military and law enforcement work, strange, stressful, and chaotic situations are dealt with on an everyday basis. Ryan has proven to be a grounding element in even these chaotic and stressful environments, as he has the ability to adjust, adapt and focus to produce a successful outcome whether on a call in his community, an emergency, a military mission or in a classroom.
Ryan takes his solid demeanor, patience and de-escalation skills into other fields as well…the playing fields, as a coach for youth football and baseball in his community. He enjoys playing golf whenever he can and if asked who he is, he’ll say ‘a father to three beautiful and crazy kids and husband to an amazing wife’.

Veronica is a trainer that leads with deep thoughtfulness and imagination. Her quiet and kind demeanor instantly transforms the training space to an open and relaxed learning environment. Being a licensed massage therapist for over twenty years, she was an instructor of both technical and academic classes for ten years at Springfield Technical Community College and was the owner and operator of a small practice in western Massachusetts. She has a diverse background in instruction and working with children and has worked as an editor, as well as a therapist for Oxford University Press. Along with her work with Thryv, she continues to work as an editor for an international non-profit organization in their Department of Public Information.
Veronica’s approach comes from her genuine love for people and her desire to constantly hone her ability to understand people. She strongly believes that no one gets anywhere in life without assistance from others. Her deep appreciation for those people in her own life who have helped her along the way has led her to have an intrinsic desire to help others in a meaningful way. Veronica is an avid believer that whenever one trains, teaches or helps another, they themselves are always learning, receiving and benefiting at the same time. Having been impacted profoundly by teachers who have helped shape her life views, she acknowledges how a good teacher can change a life and so feels that when teaching, one should always see it as a privilege and an opportunity.
Veronica has been involved in volunteer work for as far back as she can remember and has assisted in relief work in many states in the U.S. to care for those whose homes were destroyed by natural disasters. Her and her husband have also volunteered together in communities of the Dominican Republic, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Nova Scotia. She loves travel, reading and exploring the world with her husband and her newest love, her son.
